A Deadly Game of Magic by Joan Lowery Nixon

I bought a few of these books for like $3 when my local Borders went out of business earlier this year and I just haven't felt like reading them because they look like horror books and some times I feel I'm brave enough to say I'm going to read it and thus purchase them. But the reality is that I'm not so they sat in various crevices of my room until this morning.

It turns out I had nothing to fear because at least in this case it's just a crappy teen mystery about some kids winding up at a creepy house when their car breaks down. It was pretty boring and the teens kept having "deep" conversations about how their plans for the future are to please their parents and not really what they dream of doing! Anyway this house they're in is owned by the widowed wife of a magician. It just so happens that the main character really wanted to be one and studied the craft when she was younger. Everything about this book was convenient and simple. I for real don't understand it's four star rating on amazon. And the first review on the page is confused about what actually happened in the book which I find hilarious!
